SUBJECT:
INTEGRATED MATERIALS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROGRAM (IMPEP) REVIEW OF UTAH RADIATION CONTROL .
PROGRAM This memorandum transmits to the Management Review Board (MRB) a proposed final report !
(Attachment 1) documenting the IMPEP review of the Utah Radiation Control Program. The !
review of the Utah program was conducted by an interoffice team during the period l November 16-20,1998. The team issued a draft report to Utah on December 16,1998, for factual comment. Utah sent factual comments by letter dated January 12,1999 from William J.
Sinclair, Director, Division of Radiation Control, Department of Environmental Quality (Attachment to proposed final report).
Based on the findings, the review team recommends to the MRB that all performance indicators be found satisfactory. Additionally, the team recommends that Utah's program, as a whole, be considered adequate to protect public health and safety and compatible with NRC's regulatory program.
The MRB meeting to consider the Utah report is scheduled for Monday, February 1,1999 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. In Two White Flint North, Room T-2-B-5. In accordance with Management Directive 5.6, the meeting is open to the public. The agenda for that meeting is attached (Attachment 2).
