SUBJECT:
CLOSEOUT REPORT FOR BULLETIN 97-02, " PUNCTURE TESTING OF SHIPPING PACKAGES UNDER 10 CFR PART 71" We have implemented the closeout plan for Bulletin 97-02 that was contained in my memorandum to you dated October 30,1998, (attachment 1). A briefing on the closecut plan was made to the CRGR on December 8,1998. The CRGR did not object to our plan to close the Bulletin. Identicalletters were sent to all holders of NRC Certificates of Compliance (attachment 2). The letters reminded certificate holders of the provisions of 10 CFR 71.13 and stated that an application for the designation of "-85" should be accompanied by a test or evaluation of the package design under the conditions specified in 10 CFR 71.73.
Based on the actions taken, we conclude that the Bulletin is closed.
