APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION GA Technologies, Inc. License No. SNM-696 P. O. Box 85608 San Diego, California 92138 As a result of the inspection conducted June 2-6, 1986 and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy, 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C, the following violation was identified:
License Condition 9 incorporates Part II-License Specifications which in Section 3.7.2 states that procedures are required for all activities in which materials subject to this license are physically handled, stored and chemically or physically changed.
Section 4.2.7.1 of procedure NWPF-2716 entitled, " Disposal of Liquid Waste to Sanitary Sewer" states that pH adjustments are to be performed in the 100 gallon neutralization tank located in Building 25.
Contrary to the above requirement, at the time of the inspection, material was being neutralized in a movable 500 gallon tank not addressed in the procedure.
This is a Severity Level V. violation (Supplement VI).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, GA Technologies is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice, a written statement of explanation in, reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to void further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
