In a letter to Harold Denton, NRC, from H. F. Willis dated August 29,1985, i t was agreed that a summarization of the resolution of safety-related NSRS reports would be provided bimonthly.
This is the third such report.
NSRS has completed a followup review of open items at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant and issued NSRS Report R-86-01-SQN, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN) - Nuclear Safety Review Staff (NSRS) Followup Review of Open Items From Previous NSRS Reviews and Investigations." A copy of the report is enclosed.
The following items were closed for SQN R-80-03-NUC PR - Cl; C2 R-80-05-SQN-4 (a; c)
R-81-07-SQN.7 R-82-04-NPS-1 I-82-20-SQN-1; -2 R-82-21-SQN-2; -4; -5; -6; -7; and -9 I-84-12-SQN-1 through -23 R-84-17-NPS-2 R-85-02-SQN/HBN-1 R-85-03-NPS-1; -4; and -6 The following items remained open for SON R-80-05-SQN-4b R-85-02-SQN-02 R-85-03-NPS-7; -8 A new recommendation was made for SQN.

corrective actions on two items associated with Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (WBN) were reviewed and found adequate.
The following items were closed for WBN R-82-04-NPS-1 R-85-02-SQN/WBN-01 The Office of Construction (OC) changed procedure BNP-QCP-10.4 to implement an NSRS recommendation.
That procedure change was reviewed by NSRS and found satisfactory.
The following item was closed for OC R-84-09-BLN-03 In summary, 44 open items were reviewed, 40 were closed, and four remain open.
One new open item was generated.
Two open items R-80-05-SQN-4B and R-85-02-SQN/WBN-2 will be addressed prior to SQN restart.
If any others needed for startup are identified, we will notify you.
