Dear Mr.13each:

13y letter dated J.me 9,1997 (Serial Number 1 1129), Tolec'o Edison notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that licensed operator, Mr. Darren A. Taylor Docket Number 55-31790, License Number OP-30860, was temporarily relieved of perfonning licensed duties at Davis-13 esse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) and that Toledo Edison would notify the NRC upon a change in status. (

Mr. Taylor retumed to work on September 8,1997. An examination, perfonned in accordance with ANSI /ANS 3.41983, was completed on September 15,1997, verifying his ability to perform licensed duties.

Mr. Taylor's medical condition was discussed with Mr. Meh>yn Leach, NRC Region 111, Chief, Operator Licensing Branch, on October 8,1997. As discussed during the October 8 phone conversation, Toledo Edison requests the NRC's approval of a conditional license for Mr. Taylor in accordance with 10 CFR 55.25 and 10 CFR 55.33. A revised Medical Certification Form (NRC Form 396) and additional information regarding Mr. Taylor's medical condition are being submitted. Details concerning the medical condition are considered confidential and exempt from public disclo::ure in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 (a)(6). /

?.k. Taylor meets the'" Conditions of Licensecs" set forth in 10 CFR SS.53(f) and has successfully  ;

completed the Davis Besse required training. Mr. Taylor was retumed to licensed duties on  !
