l APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION l Boston Edison Company Docket No. 50-293 Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station License No. DPR-35 As a result of the inspection conducted on Feorua:y 18, 1986 - March 7, 1986, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following l

violation was identified:

i Technical Specification 4.4.A.2.c requires that replacement squib charges for i

the standby liquid control system (SLCS) te selected from a batch that has been tested during a manual initiation of the 5LCS.

Contrary to the above on April 10, 1984, replacement squib charges were in-i stalled in the SLCS from a batch that had not been tested during a manual initiation of the SLCS.

Pursuant to the provision of .10 CFR 2.201, Boston Edison Company is hereby required

to cubmit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which trans-mitted tnis Notice, a written staterrent or explanation in reply, including (1) the

steps which will be taken to avoid further violation!,: and (3) the d.ite when full '
