Response to Violation 50-436(457)/97009-04; Missed Surveillance on Containment Isolation Valve Reference

1) G E. Grant letter to H.G. Stanley dated August 26,1997, transmitting Notice of Violation from inspection Report 50-456(457)/97009
2) T. J. Tulon letter to Document Control Desk dated September 24, 1997, transmitting response to Notice of Violation from Inspection Report 50-456(457)/97009 Reference 1) transmitted NRC Inspection Report 50-456(457)/97009. In this report, a violation of Technical Specification 4 6 I I was proposed due to a valve in a containment penetration not being listed in the surseillance procedure. The affected procedures verifies the valves are in the cc,rrect position once per 31 days. With Reference 2), Braidwood Station took issue with the siolation as stated The basis for this position was the station's understanding of the Technical Specification requirement and the UFSAR description of how such valves were to be controlled As a result of further review and discussions with members of your staff, Braidwood acknowledges the violation as stated The corrective actions noted in the Reference 2) response are currently being pursued Through the discussions with your staff, Braidwood understands that the corrective actions proposed in Reference 2) are sufficient to address i
