NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO, 50 331/97014(DRP)
Dear Mr. Franz:
On September 26,19974 the NRC completed a routine safety inspection at your Duane
Arnold Energy Center facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the 5 week period covered by this inspection period, your conduct of activities at
the DAEC facility was characterized by a safety conscious approach. Conservative
operating philosophy was demonstrated during the prompt plant shutdown on
. September 9,1997, when a steam leak was discovered in the steam tunnel. Effective
coordination and teamwork between departments resulted in timely resolution of emergent
equipment problems.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this
letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
