SupplementalInformation Regarding Request for Relief RR-A14 From Certain ASME Code Requirements for the Davis. Besse Nuclear Power Station (TAC Number M98422)
. Ladies and Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to provide supplemental information for pending Relief Request RR-
- A14, which was submitted on March 7,1997 (Toledo Edison Serial Number 2450) on behalf of the Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS). Relief Request RR-A14 requests relief from Section XI of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,1986 Edition, to allow the use of Code Case N-509 for examination of Class 1,2 and 3 integrally welded attachments. This relief request was discussed in an October 15,1997 conference call with the NRC Staff. In that conference call, tne NRC Staff concurred with
. Toledo Edison's position regarding the sampling of integrally welded attachments, and Toledo Edison agreed to confirm in writing this position, as follows:
A minimum 10% of the total number of non-exempt integrally welded attachments for y
each code item in each code class will be examined during the inservice inspection
