TO SOLICIT QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FORTHE ADVISORY COMMifTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS Attached are draft copies of the press reksse and Federa1 Register notice that we plan to use to solicit qualified candidates for possible appointment to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) to fill the current vacancy. These documents emphasize that the Commission is seeking a candidate with specific experience in the areas of nuclear plant operations and probabilistic risk assessment.

We request Commission approval by December ig, igg 7. We will submit the Federal Realster notice to the Office of the Secretary for publication and the press release to the Omos of Public Affairs (OPA) for distribution. OPA provides the press release to a variety of sources for informational purposes. We also supplement OPA's malling list with a list of organizatiota, over a dezen of which specifically serve women and the minority community. Through the Office of Human Resources, we also plan to place paid advertisements in the following pchlications:
