Issuanc.e of Draft Environmental Statement - South Texas Project, Units 1 and 2 1 am pleased to provide the Environmental Protection Agency with copies of the Draft Environmental Statement which addresses environmental considerations under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, relating to the operation of the South Texas Project, Units 1 and 2.
This Draft Environmental Statement was prepared by the Commission's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation in accordance with the statement of general rolicy and procedure on implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as set forth in the Commission's regulations, 10 CFR Part 51. A notice of the availability of the Final Environmental Statement is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication (copy enclosed). A request for comments also is being sent to appropriate Federal, State and local agencies.
Comments received from Federal, State and local agencies and members of the public shall be addressed in the Final Environmental Statement including, where appropriate, a discussion of problems or objections raised and the disposition thereof. Copies of the statement will be forwarded to the Environmental Protection Agency.
