This is in response to your letter dated l' arch 6,1986, concerning package registration in accordance with 10 CFR Part 71.12.
Section 71.12 of 10 CFR Part 71 requires as a condition of general license provisions an approved cuality assurance (QA) program. Accordingly, we are unable to register you for use of the package (s) requested at this time.
It will be necessary for you to obtain an approved QA -progran prior to the registration as a package user or the delivery of licensed material to a carrier for transport pursuant to 10 CFR Part 71.
To assist you in preparing your DA progran description, enclosed are the acceptance criteria the staff uses to evaluate a licensee's QA program and a OA program that the staff has found acceptable for reeting the applicable requirenents for packaging and transporting special fom l
radioactive material.
Unless an execption is provided by 10 CFR 9170.11, an application fee of
$150, as required by 10 CFR 6170.31, should be included wito your application for 0A approval.
