To obtain the Commission's approval to proceed with rulemaking to update 10 CFR Part 52, in accordance with the attached rulemaking plan.
DISCUSAION:
This rulemaking effort wlR implement part of Drection Setting lesue #10 " Reactor Licensing for Future Appbcants," by updating and enhancing 10 CFR Part 52 en the basis of the lessons learned during the previous design certification reviews and docussions with nuclearindustry representa0ves on the earty site permit and combined license review processes.

The Office of the Chief Irdormation Officer has reviewed the rulemaking piso for information technology and information management imprestions and concurs in it. However, the plan suggests changes in information collection requirements that may require submittal of a cieerence package lo the Office of Management and Budget (OMS) at the same time the rule foneerded to the Omca of the Federal Register for pubilcation.
