Dear Ms. Garde:
This is in partial response to your letter dated March 24, 1986, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), documents from October 1,1984, to the present which relate to the reports listed in. Board Notification 84-149.
The documents listed on the enclosed Appendix A are beir.g placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC. You may obtain access by presenting a copy of this letter to the PDR staff or by requesting PDR folder F01A-86-213 in your name.
Portions of the documents listed on the enclosed Appendix B are being withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Exemption (6) of the F0IA (5 U.S.C. 552(b)(6))
and 10 CFR 9.5(a)(6) of the Commission's regulations. Release of this information would cause a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.9 of the Commission's regulations, it has been g determined that the information withheld is exempt from production or disclosure, and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest. The persons responsible for this denial are the undersigned and Mr. Robert D. Martin, Regional Administrator, Region IV.
This denial may be appealed to the Executive Director for Operations within 30 days from the receipt of this letter. As provided in 10 CFR 9.11, any such appeal must be in writing, addressed to the Executive Director for Operations, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Connission, Washington, DC 20555, and should clearly state on the envelope and in the letter that it is an " Appeal from an Initial F0!A Decision."
The search for additional documents subject to your request is continuing. As soon as our effort is completed, we will notify you.
