Battle Creek, MI 49010 Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. E. Yachimiak of this office on January 13-16, 1986, of your facility in Battle Creek, Michigan and to the discussions of our findings with Mr. Paul Woods and members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection. 5 This inspection was made because of concerns expressed by Gary Law (Union Pump) over Commonwealth Edison Company's (CECO) plans to purchase safety related spare parts using commercial procurement procedures. Areas examined during the inspec-tion and our findings are discussed in the enclosed report. ' Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
