Dear Sir:

Subject:

Vermont Yankee Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR)

By letter dated September 16, 1985 (Reference i)], Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation (VYNPC) responded to several DCRDR in-progress audit sug-gestions expressed at the audit exit interviews. We stated that it is our plan to evaluate the dynamic nature of operator tasks in real time with a full com-plement of trained operators after the Vermont Yankee site specific simulator was made operational. The purpose of this letter is to advise you of our schedule to do so.

On May 8, 1986, the Vermont Yankee simulator completed its site availabil-ity demonstration. We are currently working with the manufacturer, Singer-Link, to resolve the outstanding discrepancies.

To provide adequate opportunity for this work and to avoid any unnecessary impact on NRC operator licensing examina-tions and plant startup activities, we have scheduled the dynamic DCRDR eval-uation for the third quarter of 1986.

Three representative simulator scenarios have been selected and prepared for this purpose. We do not anticipate, that this dynamic evaluation will have any effect on the schedule for modifications sub-mitted previously in Reference j).
