RE: Incorrect Oaseous Release Data for the Previous Two Years MEMORANDUM lt has come to our attention that the gaseous release values in our most recent annual reports have been inflated by three orders of magnitude. This is an unfortunate result of switching documents between different versions of the same software. The results should have been shown in microcuries xr milliliter (pCi/ml) but were reported in millicuries per milliliter (mci /ml). Gaseous

Table I contains the gaseous release data from the Reed Reactor Facility for the last two reporting periods.
Table I: Annual Gaseous Release Year pCUml Sep 1995 - Aug 1996 2.21 E 11 Sep 1996-Aug 1997 4.87 E 11 Table 11 contains release data and annual dose from the Reed Reactor Facility for the most recent three calendar years.

1997 7.56 E 11 0.38 Data from Table I and Table 11 are different because Table I represents the academic year while Table 11 represents the calendar year. It should be noted that a majorit of our emissions is argon-
/ {j 20 41, although our facility experienced a fuel leak during Autumn of l4 ca the higher dose that year is due to krypton and xenon. The annual dose is well below the mmm constraint listed in 10 CFR 20.1101(d).
The Reed Reactor Facility regrets any confusion the erroneous release numbers may have caused.
