Thank you for your letter of January 15,1998, in response to our request for information

related to the unresolved items which were identified in an NRC inspection conducted

October 20 through November 17,1997, at Cooper Nuclear Station. We have reviewed your

reply and we find that it satisfies our informational needs at this t!me, We will review the specific

technical and programmatic issues associated with the commitments outlined in your response

during a future inspection at your facility. The appropriate regulatory characterization of the

issues discussed in NRC Inspection Report 50 298/97-18 will be made pursuant to our future

inspection.
