OPERATOR LICENSING EXAMINATION REPORT 50-440/97309(OL)
Dear Mr. Myers:
On August 30,1997, the NRC completed initial operator licensing examinations at your Perry
Nuclear Power Plant. The license applicants' performance evaluations were finalized on
October 16,1997. The enclosed report pressats the results of the examinations.
Operating and written examinations were administered to nine ilcense applicants; two at the
Reactor Operator level and seven at the Senior Reactor Operator level. Two applicants failed
to meat the NRC's standard for licensing and were denied licenses. All other license applicants
passed all sections of their respective examinations and were issued Reactor Operator or
Senior Reactor Operator licenses.
This examination was the first opportunity your training cepartment personnel have had to
propare an operator licenso examination under the NRC's initial license examination pilot
process fhe pilot process allowed your training personnel to prepare and administer the
written examination and prepare the operating examination for NRC examiners to administer.
Your training department is to be commended for the examination produced for this initial
license examination. The examination submitted to Region lli was of high quality and required
only minor changes.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission't regulations, a copy of this letter and the
enclosures to this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
