Dear Mr. Thorne:
Enclosed is an application from Aerojet Heavy Metals Co. requesting a license to export 635.04 kilograms of depleted uranium to the United Kingdom. The material will be fabricated into penetrators by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense Factory.
Although the proposed export nomally would not require Executive Branch review under current interagency procedures. NRC would appreciate Exeuctive Branch views, in accordance with established procedures, because of recent concerns regarding shipments of source material.
