The tape is formatted as specified by the memo, with some clarification made in a phone conversation between Irv Spickler of the NRC and Bob Bass (rep-resenting the District).
The tape format is as follows:
9 track, EBCDIC Record length = 160 characters Block size = 3200 characters Density = 1600 BPI No standard lable on tape The data on the tape is hourly met data starting on 10/25/85 and running through 5/30/86.
The start date corresponds to the acceptance date of the software package that collects and processes the data.
This package is a version of Pickard, Lowe and Garrick's MIDAS system. Hourly data are 15 minute averages taken at the top of the hour.
Met data not collected and processed by the District are flagged as " bad",
(i.e.,99999).
" Calms" are defined as wind speeds below.6 mph.
Dew point values are recorded in the "others" field, at the low measurement level.
The start date field is 8529801 and the end date field is 8615024.
