Dear Mr. Gaskin:
By letter dated September 30,1996, General Atomics (GA) submitted a plan for decom-missioning its site in San Diego, CA. The plan, titled ' General Atomics' Site Decommissioning Plan' and dated September 1996, was revised in December 1996 to include a section (Section
- 9) on " Fire Protection' and was further revised in April 1997 to add information to Chapter 6
' Final Survey." The plan, has been further revised to be consistent with the revised frequency of radiation safety training requirements of GA's materiallicense SNM-696, i.e., every two (2) years instead of every year. (This change was warranted on the basis of the reduced scope of allowable activities under GA's possession only license amendment and the reduced radiological parameters now ntsociated with the site.) This revision has been made on the enclosed pages 4-3 and 4-5.
A second revision to the plan has been made on the enclosed page 6 7. This revision corrects two typographical errors in a single line on this page. The corrections are in the 5th line of the 3rd full paragraph and correct a ">' to read *>", and '20 m'" to read '4 m'."
Please remove pages 4-3,4 5 and th6 previously revised page 6-7 from your copies of GA's site decommissioning plan that are being reviewed for approval, and replace them with the enclosed revised pages marked
- REVISED PAGE January 15,1998."
Under separate cover, GA is also submitting the revised pages to the plan to the State of California Department of Health Services' Radiologic Health Branch.
