Sewage Survey POTW Guidance Document Sumary:
Sewaoe Survev Mary Wisdom distributed the revised Quality Assurance Project Plan (OAPP).
The subcommittee members need to give her their comments in the next fev weeks so the OAPP can be finalized by December 11.
NAREL and ORISE distributed their revised letter report on the analysis of samples from the test sites.
Comments on this last draft are due to Dale Condra or Dave Saunders in the next few weeks.
Then the labs will finalize the report.
At the next subcommittee meeting. the members will discuss criteria f" evaluating the lab analysis results and the NRC/ EPA /NAREL/0 RISE draft report on the survey design and results of the test sites.
The second Federal Reaister notice on the survey is in concurrence at NRC a1d should go to the Federal Reaister soon.
The subcommittee discussed the AMSA/WEF request for a Steering Committee composed of NRC. EPA. AMSA and WEF representatives.
As a result of the
subcoanittee's discussions, NRC and EPA sent the attached letter to AMSA/WEF.
This topic will be discussed at the rext subcommittee meeting.
POTW Guidance Document NRC is currently drafting responses to industry comments on the guidance document.
NRC and EPA met on October 9 to discuss dos' nodeling issues.
A work.ing group will be formed tc address dose modeling.
The EPA contact for this group is Loren Setlow; the NRC contact is Tony Huffert.
The next subccmmittee meeting will be held on December 5 at EPA.
At this meeting we will discuss (1) criteria for evaluating the survey results.
(2) the summary re) ort on the survey design and test sites. (3) AMSA/WEF 3articipation in tie survev. and (4) comments on the guidance document.
Jim 3achmaier will review the FDA report on radioactive contaminat. ion of human food to see if it is applicable to modeling sewage scenarios.
Action Items:
1.
Subcommittee members will send comments to Mary Wisdom on the draft 0 APP so she con finalize the OAPP-by December 11.
2.
The subcommittee members will send comments to Dale Condra and Dave Saunders on the labs letter report by October 31.
Then the labs will finalize the report by November 14.
