Dear Mr. Zwolinski:

This submittal is to inform you of DPC's decision to change the control method to be used for Penetration M-22. This differs from our Reference 3 submittal.

Reference 3 Penetration M-22 Conrnitment Penetration M-22 vill become an unused penetration. The line vill be cut and isolated from containment atmosphere.

DPC Revised Commitment for Penetration M-22 The outside manual valve, 54-24-179, will be maintained in a normally locked-closed position and opened only under a controlled procedure to transfer waste water.

This control method was our original commitment for Penetration M-22. We had planned to change it following a facility modification, as discussed in Reference 3. We have since decided to maintain this method of control, mainly due to the radiation exposure involved in cutting the line. As discussed in WP4.41 8606090451 060520 PDR ADOCK 05000409 g\c P PDR Y l

'w Mr. Jchn A. Zwoliniki, Director May 28, 1986 BWR Project Directorate #1 LAC-11606 Reference 3, however, this penetration is no longer the one which is routinely used. Our original commitment was made in Reference 1 and accepted in Reference 2. We have not yet received a reply to Reference 3.
