Dear Dr. Paperiello:
The purpose of this letter is to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of a ch regulatory commitment. This commitment was made in USEC letter GDP-97-0188 dated O 1997, which submitted a certificate amendment request (CAR) containing the Safety A Update (SAR Update) required by issue 2 of DOE /ORO-2026," Plan for Achieving Comp NRC Regulations at the Paducah Gaseous Difrusion Plant"(the Compliance Plan) for NRC re approval. The specifics of this commitment change are provided below.
Backcround in USEC letter GDP 97-0188, USEC committed, in part, that "[t]he results of the USEC com loading analysis fbr Buildings C-333-A, C-337-A, and C-360, including any necessary c SARUP, will be submitted to the NRC by January 19,1998."

' January 16,1998 ODP 98 0006 Page 2 Justification for Revised Ccmmitment The combustible loading analysis for buildings C-333 A, C-337-A, and C-360 has been completed and the results support a non safety classification for tbc fixed fire suppression systems in these facilities, llowever, several documents supporting the SAR Update accident analysis must also be revised prior to submitting proposed changes to the SAR Update CAR for NRC review. The complexity of these document revisions requires additional time to ensure that they are complete and accurate.
