Telephone Call, Mr. A. M. Dromerick (NRC) to Mr. E. M. Tyler (BGE),

September 23,1997 Reference (a) submitted a request for temporary exemption from General Design Criteria 2 (1967 draft) to allow two emergency diesel generator (EDG) missile shields to be removed for the EDG upgrade project.

D in Reference (b), a question was asked about whether the door between Nos. IB and 2A EDG Rooms is a fire or flood barrier and, if so, what p.ecautions would be taken for fire and/or flooo. The door in question is a fire barrier, but not a flood barrier. The fire barrier will be breached - ien the door is removed to pass EDG parts through. Plant procedures require a fire watch if any fire barrier is to remain I

open. These procedures will be followed for the time the door is removed.

In Reference (c), a question was asked as to the emergency procedure that addresses high wind conditions. He procedure that provides actions to be taken for severe weather conditions is Emergency Response Plan implementing Procedure 3.0, Attachment 17. This procedure will govern emergency actions when the missile shields are removed.
