WESTINGHOUSE - ALLEGED FAILURE TO REPORT ITEM UNDER 10CFR21.
CASE NO:
RII-85-A-0061 On May 9, 1985, a licensee Instrument and Electronic Engineer contacted the Senior Resident Inspector at the McGuire Nuclear Plant and expressed a concern about the perceived unwillingness on the part of Westinghouse to file a Part 21 report, or take similar action.to place in the public domain, the information referred to in LER~
369/85-05.
The individual stated to the SRI that it was his opinion that Westinghouse knows that the subject is generic, but will not in-form the industry.
On May 14, 1985, the SRI contacted the Westinghouse representative at the plant site and during conversation with the representative and subsequent review of the Westinghouse technical bulletins, the SRI could find no reference to the subject of the LER.
This information is provided for your review and evaluation to deter-mine if there is any merit to this concern.
If not, I will close the.
case file and advise the SRI of the results of the Regional evaluation so that he can so advise the concerned engineer.
I have also included a document that I recently received from S. Elrod and information documented on page 3, paragraph 2, may have some bearing on this particular issue.
I have entered a tracking date of August 30, 1985 for this matter in the Region II Allegation Tracking System.
