he Commission approved,_ subject-to the editorial comments noted in the enclosure,--the staff's proposed response to the Department.
of Energy indicating that the NRC does not object to the transfer of 25 kilograms of enriched uranium scrap from Atomic Energy lof.
Canada, Limited, to the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority _
for the-purpose of recovering HEU, which will then be returned to Canada for.use as target material for the. production of-molybdenum-99.
The Commission's decision on this-matter-was made with:the understanding that the retransfer will be transported in secured military aircraft.
The proposed-letter to the Department of-Energy.should be revised and issued promptly.
