The NRC staff has reviewed the' subject topical report submitted by the Westinghouse Owners' l
' : Group (WOG) on August 12,1997. With the conditions and limitations described in the enclosed safety evaluation, the staff considers that the Joint Owners' Group (JOG) Program on
- MOV Periodic Verification serves as an acceptable industry wide response to Generic Letter (GL) g6 05, " Periodic Verification of Design Basis Capability of Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valves." As specified in the enclosed safety evaluation, JOG must submit for NRC review and approval a revision to (or replacement report for) the subject topical report describing the final
. test criteria for the long-term MOV Periodic Verification Program, and the justifcation for those critoria folicwing completion of the 5-year JOG dynamic test program.
The final voision of the topical report should incorporate this letter, the safety evaluation, NRC staff written comments provided to WOG on the JOG program, and the submitted JOG
-responses.
- Please advise us within 30 days whether any material in the enclosed safety evaluation is considered proprietary. Without such notification, the staff will place the safety evaluation in the NRC Public Document Room.
