The NRC staff has reviewed the subject topical report submitted by the Combustion i Engineering Owners' Group (CEOG) on August 6,1997, With the conditions and limitations '
described in the enclosed safety evaluation, the staff considers that the Joint Owners' Group !
(JOG) Program on MOV Periodic Verification serves as an acceptable industry wide response !
to Generic Letter (GL) 96-05, " Periodic Verification of Design-Sasis Capability of Safety Related !
Motor-Operated Valves." As specified in the enclosed safety evaluation, JOG must rabmit for I NRC review and approval a revision to (or replacement report for) the subjed topical report
- l describing the final test criteria for the long-term MOV Periodic Verification Program, and the j justification for those criteria following completion of the 5 year JOG dynamic test program. >
The final version of the topical report should incorporate this letter, the safety evaluation, NRC i
staff written comments provided on the JOG program, and the submitted JOG responses. i Please advise us within 30 days whether any material in the enclosed safety evaluation is considered proprietary. Without such notification, the staff will place the safety evaluation in the NRC Public Document Room. {;
