FERMI 2 - SAFETY EVALUATION FOR INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM RELIEF REQUEST NUMBER VR-51-R2 (TAC NO. M98732)
Dear Mr. Gipson:
On May 1,1997, Detroit Edison submitted proposed Revision 2 to Relief Request VR-51 under the Fermi 2 pump and valvo inservice testing program. The staff has evaluated this relief request, including the proposed alternative testing, and has determined that the requi.ements of the Code are impractical and the relief is granted pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(6)(i) for the first 10-year interval as documented in the enclosed safety evaluation. The relief granted is authorized by law and will not endanger life or property or the common defense and security and is otherwise in the public interest, giving due consideration to the burden upon Detroit Edison that would result if the requirements were imposed on the facility.
