Dear Mr. Lieberman:

This is to confirm our conversation today whenein, on behalf of Duke Engineering

& Services, Inc. (DE&S), I requested an extension of time to respond to the NRC's December 19, 1997 Demand for Information in EA 97 387. As we discussed, the time within which Yankee Atomic Electric Company has to respond to the same Demand for Information was extended to February 20,1998. DE&S requested the same extension of time (la, until February 20,1998),

which you have granted.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

/

J. Michael McGarry,111 Counsel for Duke Engineering & Services,Inc.
