NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-306/98021(DRS)
Dear Mr. Wadley:
On November 24,1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Prairie Island Nuclear
Generating Plant, Unit 2. The results of the inspectior, were discussed with Mr. J. Sorensen

and other members of your staff on November 24,1998. The enclosed report presents the
results of this inspection.
The purpose of the inspection was to review the implementation of the inservice inspection
program for the Prairie Island Unit 2 refueling outage cycle 19.
We concluded that, overall, the implementation of your inservice inspection program met
ASME,Section XI requirements and was implemented in an effective manner with excellent
engineering involvement in the oversight of the ISI activities. The areas examined during the
inspection are identified in the report. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of

procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations of activities
in progress.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
