Dear Mr. Block:
I am responding to your letter of June 23, 1997, to Chairman Jackson of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Conrnission (NRC). in which you express your concern about the structure of the license transfer process in the event of a sale of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station (Maine Yankee). As you are undoubtedly aware. by letter dated August 7. 1997. Maine Yankee certified permanent cessation of power operations and their intent to begin the decommissioning process.
Therefore, no transfer of the license will take place.
Notwithstanding these developments. I am enclosing for your general information a Standard Review Plan that describes the staff's general procedures and review criteria for transfer of control of licenses.
