t Site Safety and Environmental Analysis l DATA INPUT FOR APPEIDIX I CALCULATIONS: WPPSS 3 & 5 The fish production data submitted for WPPSS 3-5 have been reviewed and I

estimates of total recreational and commercial catches from contiguous waters within a fifty mile rsdius are reported. The majority of this information was obtained verbally from the Washington Department of '

l Fisheries, Division of Statistics and is not yet in published form.

No freshwater category is presented. Maximum intrusion of saltwater up the Chehalia River is approximately five miles downstrean.from the plant.

All species reportedly taken from the freshwater portion of the Chehalis River in the vicinity of .the plant are anadromous and, at the time of capture, are moving upstream to spawn. The residence time in freshwater

to capture is estimated to be a few days to a few weeks.

1. Dressed weights are indicated. Conversion factors from round to dressed weights were obtained from USDA.
2. Estimates are based on the 1974 catch statistics only.
3. Fhal totals have been rounded to the nearest 1,000 Kg.
4. Accuracy of the estimates is variable. Cornnercial estimates are .

considered fairly accurate and are based on actual round and dressed weights at dockside. The recreational estimates are poor. The recreational fish estimate can be broken into the two categories, salmon and non-salmon species. Salmon species composa approximately l 70%.of the total astimate, based on actual numbers of individuals I reported to the Department of Fisheries. Non-salmon species compose I the remaining 30% and are largely educated guesses by the Washington l Department of Fisheries statisticians. Recreational shellfish estitnates are based entirely on educated guesses by the Washington Department of i

Fisheries statisticians. There is no program in the study area for the reporting of non-salmon recreational catches.
