In response to your memo of December 17,1975(seeenclosure),inwhich you indicated that the lack of certain regional meteorological data

, will result in the use of a less ecmplex and more conservative calcu-lational procedure, we have contacted the applicant (WPPSS) by telephone.

The applicant has indicated that they are aware of this situation and

, the resulting consequences. ' WPPSS has stated that the choice of action was based on their own calculations which show that even the conservative approach will demonstrate UNP-3 & 5 compliance with Appendix I guidelines.

Based on the above, we request that you proceed with the review of

, & 5 demonstration of compliance with Appendix I. The review should be based on the agreement reached during the meeting held on flovember 26, 1975 between the representatives of SAB, ETSB, RAB and EP (E. F. liawkins, W. Burke, W. Hewitt, T. Essig, E. Markee, J. Youngblood, F. Miraglia and J.Long). The essence of the agreement stated that the WNP-3 & 5 would serve as a test case for Appendix I analysis and that the review would proceed on "as soon as practicable" basis with ninimum impact on existing priorities and commitments.
