Applicant submitted a report on the Subject Support Structure Design on September 3, 1975. This report is the subject of a current Technical Assistance Request to your office dated September 30, 1975 (attached).
Applicants' September.3 report was supplemented by additional information docketed November 10, 1975. The supplement dealt primarily with computational methods used by B & W to calculate vessel internal pressure differential loads.
This memo is written to request your estimate of the schedule on which you will be able to complete a "first round" review of Applicant's two submittals on this generic issue. The issue is post-CP and not reflected i
in normal Blue Book schedules. I understand that this review will be accomplished in three branches in three assistant directorates within your Division.
I believe a prompt review of Applicant's submittals is warranted because at the November 13, 1975 Radiological Safety Hearing on UNP-1,4, we stated, in effect, that Applicant's September 3 and November 10 documents considered all the applicable loads and that. the results presented in the documents probably would not change on further review. (Teciose m p i P,10 0 Applicant's construction schedules are such that changes in the concrete structures surrounding the vessel can be effected up to June 1976, at some engineering expense but with no construction schedule delays. If practical to do so, I believe we should exert reasonable effort to complete our review of the RPV supports issue for this Applicant prior to June 1976.
I hope that your "first round" response to Applicant's submittals can be scheduled to DRL by January 31, 1976.
