Dear Mr. Cottle:
An NRC inspection was conducted July 1417,1997, at your South Texas Project Electric
l
Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, reactor f acilities. The inspection focused on your solid
i
radioactive waste and radioactive materials transportation programs, with emphasis on
your implementation of the revised 49 CFR Parts 100179 and 10 CFR Part 71. The
enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspection confirmed that the solid radioactive waste management program and
transportation program for radioactive waste and materials were implemented properly.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.700 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this
inspection report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
