Peter A. Merris, Director, DEL HANFORD No. 2 NUCLIAR F0WER PLANT ENVIROIDENTAL STATEMENT This is in response to your memorandum of December 1,1971, concerning our schedule for issuance of the Manford No. 2 Noelear Fewer Flant Envireemental Statement.
We consider your target date of september 1972 for issuance of the Final Environmental Statement to be optimistic. The earliest date we foresee being able to meet at this time is mid-October 1972; however, we will make every effort to shorten our schedule.
Our current working schedule for preparing the Hanford 2 Environmental Statement is as follows:
Receive preliminary draft Environmental Statement from lab -
May 17, 1972.
Issue draf t Environmental Statement for agency comments -
June 21, 1972.
Receive agency comments - September 6, 1972 (75 days' comment period.)
Issue final Environmental Statement - October 11, 1972.
