SUBJECT:
TRANSFER OF REVIEW RESPONSIBILITY FOR REVISION 23 TO THE MCGUIRE AND REVISION 8 TO THE CATAWBA PHYSICAL SECURITY PLANS By letters dated September 9,1985, Duke Power Company submitted Revision 23 to the McGuire and Revision 8 to the Catawba Physic 31 Security Plans under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p).
The revisions address the fact that certain sections of a vital system may not necessarily be protected as vital equipment.
In accordance with the March 6, 1985, memorandum from Robert F. Burnett, Director, Division of Safeguards, NMSS, concerning policy implications associated with changes to vital equipment designations, we are transferring review responsibility for these revisions to your office for resolution.
We have discussed this revision with Messrs. Charles Gaskins and Eugene McPeek and have notified the licensee of the transfer of review responsibility from Region II to NRR.
