' AGINiBUSSO, DDRP, L D. R. Muller, AD/EP Thru C. K. Dicker, Chief PBf 2 HANFORD NUMBER TWO, WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM - MEETING TO DISCUSS REVIEW SCHEDULE OF THE APPLICATION - DOCKET No. 50-397 The meeting was convened at the applicant's request at 9:00 a.m. in Mr. Ciambusso's office. The applicant was interested in learning the schedule for the environmental review of the Hanford 2 Stations. The important milestones discussed were as follows:

1. The applicant stated that the construction permit was needed in January 1973, and the exemption for starting site work in June 1972.
2. Nr. Boyd indicated that we expected the ACRS meeting in October 1972, and the Safety Evaluation was expected to be completed the latter part of September 1972.
3. Pr. Kuller indicated that the mini-statement for the exemption was scheduled for completion June 15, 1972, and the decisions on the exesnption would follow that date. The Draft betailed Statenent is scheduled for completion in mid October 1972, and the Final Statement in mid February 1973.

There was a discussion concerning the schedule and why it was too late, the need for the power, the relative merits of early notices, how thorough the applicant had prepared, etc. The main thrust of the applicant's response to the schedule was mostly "why has it slipped so nuch when we have been so thorough." Our answer was essentially "it has not slipped, it is now realistic." Furthermore, we have staffing plans that may possibly improve the schedule.

Mr. Church's conclusion was that under this schedule they could not expect a permit before March or April of 1973 and this would be a rather severe blow to their plans and leave them short of power in 1977.
