Thank you for your letter of September 20, 1985, which described the corrective actions GE has and will implement in response to the Items of Nonconformance identified in our letter of August 26, 1985.
GE's response to those items was adequate and no additional information is requested. The corrective actions described in your September 20, 1985, response will be reviewed during a future NRC inspection.
Additionally, your letter expressed concern over the generic nature of the NRC's statement that technicans at the GE Wilmington routinely did not follow procedures (NRC letter of August 26, 1985, paragraph three). The scope of the inspection was limited to activities conducted in the chemet laboratory.
However, the nature of the findings and the attitudes expressed by GE personnel were and are sufficient justification to question whether the findings concerning adherence to procedures and procedural adequacy extend beyond the activities reviewed during the June 24-28, 1985, inspection. We fully support implementation of appropriate generic corrective actions. The generic actions concerning this inspection finding referenced in your September 20, 1985, response will be reviewed during a future NRC inspection.
