Dear Dr. Jungraann:
This is in response to your letter to ne dated April 7,1992, and to confirn, the telephone conversation on April 29, 1992, between you and Mr. Leroy Person of ry staff.
In your letter yeu requested that I help trange visits for you and Mr. Sonke Albrecht of Preussen Elektra to " outstanding waste inanagement facilities."
As 11r. Person explained to you during the aforementioned telephone conversation, the Nuclear Regulatory Consission regulates the facilities you wish to visit.
Because of this, it would be better for the NPC not to becerne directly involved in the detailed arrangements of your visit to the United States. Accordingly, we have referred your request to Mr. Ron Sieberling of the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (Ir4P0) who will be in touch with you to help arrange your tour of the U.S. nuclear plants for which you have interest. The NPC will, however, be pleased to accommodate your request for discussions with rae and rr.y staff regarding: licensing of interim storage of spent reactor fuel; disposal, storage, and processing of low-level waste; and final disposal of spent reactor fuel. We trust the approach described in this response will help make your visit a success.
We will be glad to provide dates of our availability to Mr. Sieberling of INP0 once he has identified an acceptable time frme for your visit.
