PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 - WITHDRAWAL OF A REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS OF 10 CFR PART 50,~ APPENDIX R, SECTION lil.G, " FIRE PROTECTION OF SAFE SHUTDOWN CAPABILITY"(TAC NOS. M98907 AND M98908)
Dear Mr. Edwards:
PECO Energy Company (the licensee), in its application dated May 22,1997, requested an exemption from certain provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix R, Section Ill.G, " Fire Protection of Safe Shutdown Capability." Specifically, the licensee requested exemption from the automatic fire suppression requirements stipulated by Section Ill.G.2.c for thirteen (13) fire areas located in the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Units 2 and 3, Turbine Building and Control structure. In addition, the licensee requested affirmation of exemptions, previously granted in March 1985, for one (1) fire area in the Control Structure and two (2) fire areas in the Reactor Buildings.
Subsequently, by letter dated December 11,1998, the licensee withdrew the exemption request. Accordingly, the Commission has closed the associated TAC Nos. M98907 and M98908.
