Dear Mr. Wigginton:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you and your staff of the completion of the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) program to address superheated blowdowns outside containment. A final report detailing the results of the program was issued to Subgroup members on October 21, 1985.

As discussed in the reference letters, the purpose of the program is to supply steamline break mass and energy release information which will be used by WOG HELB/SBOC members in establishing plant specific EQ temperature envelopes. As each utility is responsible for plant specific evaluations, a final schedule for completion of these evaluations cannot be determined by the WOG Subgroup.

As stated in the reference letters, however, it is expected that a minimum of 90 days is required to establish temperature envelopes for each plant and 60 days to prepare a list of equipment potentially affected by the revised temperature envelopes.

If there are any questions on this, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely, 0511060250 051020 PDR ADOCK 05000282 J. O. Cermak, Chairman P
