SUBJECT:
RECOMMENDATION FOR NOTIFICATION OF LICENSING BOARD MIDLAND SETTLEMENT In accordance with present NRC procedures regarding Board Notifications, the following infonnation is being provided as constituting new information relevant and material to the Midland OM/0L proceedings.
The licensee notified the NRC on September 17, 1985 that at the freeze-wall crossings, (monitoring pits 1, 2, 3, and 4), utility' movement was more than anticipated during freeze-wall thawing.
Preliminary survey data indicates that utility settlement exceeded freeze-wall heave in some cases.
Due to the discontinuation of construction at Midland, the licensee does not intend to pursue this issue until the project is reactivated.
