t Enclosed are the exams for two members of your staff who attended the following course:
Health Physics Technology Course (H-201)
' Chattanooga, Tennessee - October 27 - November 7,1997 The course examination results indicate that the individuals did not meet the minimum standard.-
for successful completion of the courses, which is a grade of 70% The NRC policy on successful completion of NRC training for Agreement States was sent to you by letter dated November 20,1996 (SP-96-118). For your information, NRC does not consider its staff -
qualified until, at a minimum, the exams for required courses are successfully completed. Non-qualified NRC staff are not permitted to conduct independent inspections and license reviews in

areas which they have not successfully completed the minimum training requirements.;We have not notified the individuals of their course results and request that you discuss the results with them and their options for successful completion.

You should consider recommending additional study of the course material or additional training for the individuals. It is recommended that the student review those portions of the text and reference manual which relate to the questions answered incorrectly on the quizzes and the final examination. : if they wish additional training in Health' Physics, the 1 week H-117 course is a possible candidate. :The individuals may also re-take the H-201 course, if space is available.
~ Included with the enclosed exam, are specific areas of study identified for eacn student. The
- individuals appear to have weaknesses in the specified areas.
- If a re-exarinaticn is requested, please follow the procedures listed under "Re-examination Policy
