&-h8 AUG 211985 p - 3 (3 MEMORANDUM FOR: Edward S. Christenbury, Director and Chief Counsel, Hearing Division Office of the Executive Legal Director FROM:

Thomas M. Novak, Assistant Director for Licensing Division of Licensing

SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR IDENTIFY OF POSSIBLE NRC DEPONENTS IN WPPSS SECURITY LITIGATION By memorandum dated August 7, 1985, (Plaine, OGC, to Dircks, EDO, same subject), the staff was requested to identify potential staff witnesses for the purpose of providing depositions to represent the federal government in In re Washington Public Power Supply System Securities Litigation in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, at Seattle, Washington. As you and I discussed earlier, the Branch Chief for the Licensing Branch responsible for these plants was Olan Parr and the following individuals were Project Managers:

WPPSS 4 Thomas Cox (Licensing Project Manager)

WPPSS 5 Anthony Bournia (Licensing Project Manager)

WPPSS 4 and 5 Jan Norris (Environmental Project Manager).

I By copy of this memorandum, I am providing Stephen H. Lewis of your staff a computer printout listing all NRR Personnel who participated in the review of the construction permits for WPPSS 4 and 5 from June 25, 1972, to June 8, 1985. For WPPSS 4, about 50 people charged 2868 manhours to this project.

About the same number of people charged 7143.7 manhours to the review of the WPPSS 5 project. The individuals in this listing have not been screened to determine if they are still employed by the NRC.

If, in fact, members of the NRR staff must be identified for the purpose of providing depositions, I recommend that Messrs. A. Bournia and T. Cox be made available for that purpose.
