CRGR PACKAGE FOR PROPOSED RESOLUTION OF USI A-17,

" SYSTEMS INTERACTIONS IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS" The enclosed package provides the staff's recommended resolution of USI A-17, along with the decision rationale.

Two of the key reports, " Assessment of Systems Interaction Experience in l

Nuclear Power Plants" (NUREG/CR-4261) by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and

" Review and Evaluation of Spatial Systems Interaction Studies" by Mark l

Technologies Corporation, used in the A-17 resolution are available in draft only and a copy will be made available to those interested.

If you need a copy, please notify the Task Manager.

It is requested that your division review the package and provide comments l

to the Director, Division of Safety Technology by August 31, 1985.

In order to provide a clear statement regarding the present Standard Review Plan review in the area of systems interactions to the CRGR, we request that your technical review branches which have lead review responsibility in the sections which address adverse systems interactions provide a summary of their present review efforts. The sections of the SRP which we believe address systems interactions are listed in Table 5.2.10 in the Draft NUREG
