Gentlemen:

In your December 19,1997 letter conceming apparent violations at Maine Yankee you asked that we mspend within 7 days concerning our interest in having a pre-decisional enforcement conference, Assumirj no enforcement conference were held, you also asked that we respond to the apparent violations within 30 days.

Considering the holidays and availability of personnel we feel it appropriate to extend these schedules. We expect to be able to respond with our position on a pre-decisional enforcement conference by January 9,1998. And, should no enforcement conference be necessary, we can provide a written response to the apparent violations by February 13,1998.

Please give me a call (207.h82 4540)if these drtes are inconvenient.
